It was a beautiful moment in the series and started our journey with Harry. He was able to free him, getting back and Lucius and helping the elf who helped him and tried to keep him safe. It is still one of the greatest friendships in the series and to see the two work together once Dobby was free was incredible because we knew that Harry had a hand it in.
And, at that point, he owed it to Dobby to begin with. When Harry found out what Lucius Malfoy did to Ginny and, subsequently, the other students of Hogwarts? The least Harry could do was set Dobby free.
It is an important thing to note that Harry giving Dobby that book is maybe one of the most significant moments in the series.īefore then, sure, Dobby was attempting to help Harry outside of the Malfoy’s rule but then again, he wasn’t able to do all he needed for Harry because he had to answer to Lucius. For instance, at Christmas, my aunt got me socks that said “Master gave Dobby a sock! Dobby is a free elf” and I instantly started to cry.
